Caitland:
Sharon, can I ask you something? What does the Holy Spirit feel like to you? Because for me, He’s like a steady guide. He helps me think straight, gives me peace, and nudges me when I’m about to make a bad decision.
Sharon:
That’s a great question, Caitland. I’ve always felt the Holy Spirit as power. Like in Acts 1:8—when Jesus said we’d receive power when the Holy Spirit comes. I feel Him strongest when I’m praying for others or when I need boldness.
Caitland:
That makes sense. But I guess I experience Him more in the quiet. When I’m reading Scripture, or just sitting with God, I feel like the Spirit helps me understand. Jesus called Him the “Helper” in John 14:26. That’s how I see Him.
Sharon:
And that’s true too. The Spirit is our helper. But I don’t think we talk enough about how He moves with fire sometimes. When the early church prayed, the place was shaken! (Acts 4:31). That wasn’t just comfort—that was movement.
Caitland:
That sounds amazing, but also a little overwhelming. I’m used to Him being gentle—like a whisper, like the wind. Jesus said in John 3:8 the Spirit moves like that—unpredictable, but still controlled. I love that image.
Sharon:
Yes! He can whisper. But I’ve also seen people set free from fear and addiction when the Spirit filled the room. That’s why Paul said in 2 Timothy 1:7 that God gave us a spirit of power and love—not fear. That’s how I know He’s real.
Caitland:
I think I’ve just been more cautious. I do trust Him, but I tend to stay in what feels “safe.” Maybe I haven’t invited Him to move fully. I want to be more open to that.
Sharon:
And I want to grow in listening. Sometimes I chase the “fire” and forget to sit still and let Him speak in a soft voice. We need both. He’s not just for Sunday altar calls—He’s for Tuesday mornings too.
Caitland:
That’s so true. I’ve felt Him whisper to me before, “Call your friend, she’s hurting,” and I did—and it was exactly what she needed. That felt like a miracle to me, even if no one else saw it.
Sharon:
That is a miracle! The Spirit speaks in big and small ways. And when we’re filled with Him—really filled—He leads us in ways we’d never plan for ourselves. Ephesians 5:18 says to “be filled with the Spirit.” I take that as a daily thing.
Caitland:
I’m going to start praying for that each day. Not just for peace, but for guidance and boldness.
Sharon:
And I’ll start asking to hear Him in the quiet more. Not just when I feel fire, but when I need stillness too.
Caitland:
So He’s both. A guide and a force. A whisper and a wind.
Sharon:
Yes. And we don’t have to choose. We just have to be open.
Caitland:
Let’s pray that way—open and ready for however He wants to move.
Sharon:
Amen. Let’s be Spirit-led in every part of life.
